The unique universe of tapestry art
The main objective of Atelier 61 is preserving the tradition of textile manufacturers. It was in the early sixties that the workshop started producing large format tapestries according to the drafts of the well-known Yugoslav artists Stojan Celić, Lazar Vujaklija, Mladen Srbinović, Milan Konjović, Antika Opresnik, etc.
Atelier 61 is also a place where the first exhibitions of tapestries in the country and abroad (Scandinavia, Latin America, USA, Europe) were held. They got high recognition, which placed this workshop among the cultural institutions of great value. Besides the exhibitions of tapestries from the Atelier 61 Collection, the Gallery also hosts music and literary evenings.
