Cooking in the trendy quarter of Bochum
Creative, sustainable and inclusive - enjoy unique kitchen experiences in one of the most creative culinary schools
A holiday is there to relax and unwind, but also to discover new things. This nourishes the soul. And also the body, when it comes to approaching the culinary delights and peculiarities of your destination during the stay. If your senses wanted to get to the very heart of the taste and also the skills of preparation, then you should consider taking a cooking course. So we recommend a trip to Bochum's trendy Ehrenfeld district, where you can try out your skills in one of the most creative cooking schools in the Ruhr area. The range of courses offered by KOCHMOMENTE is phenomenal and will take you on a journey through flavours and gastronomic highlights from all over the world. Just exemplary titles of the cooking programme alone will inspire food lovers when it's "Vegetarian Israel", "California Sunshine Cuisine" or "Orientexpress". Of course, there are also recipes that focus on German regional cuisine and offers to go on a culinary voyage of discovery into the city.
The special thing about KOCHMOMENTE is that the cooking school is embedded in the urban environment, focuses on sustainability and, above all, is inclusive. This means that people with disabilities are consciously welcome. The operators are rightly proud of the fact that they have a barrier-free kitchen. Individual work surfaces of the cooking island can be adjusted hydraulically and can be driven underneath, so that everyone has the opportunity to actively participate in carving, stirring and roasting. The kitchen thus adapts to the needs of all guests. This was a particular concern for both Jürgen Engelhardt and Christian Müller. With this orientation, they even took third place in 2016 in the Bochum start-up competition "Senkrechtstarter".
They show how easy it is to create sophisticated dishes from fresh local produce and at the same time stand for social interaction. Those who swing the cooking spoon here not only take home new skills, but also a new understanding of how to integrate otherwise isolated fringe groups. And this is not only fun - it also tastes good - of course the dishes are also enjoyed "with dignity" after they have been prepared.
Even those who pay attention to their figure need not fear. The cooking school is located in the trendy Ehrenfeld district in the southern city centre of Bochum. The quarter is located at the Bochum Schauspielhaus, a well-known theatre, and in front of the nationally known pub district Bermuda3Eck. Numerous artists and creative people have settled in this hip and equally charming area. The neighbourhood is dominated by many small, inviting shops and avant-garde studios and individual gastronomy. A digestive walk is definitely worthwhile here...
