Opera in the Kitchen
Lucrezia’s Opera in the Kitchen is a magical combination of Italian cooking classes with live opera music, where food and music marry to give light to a soothing experience for all the senses.
You may know that, according to some academic studies, coupling some good music with another activity may enhance the outcome of the activity itself. But not many people are aware that coupling Opera with the specific action of eating pasta, brings out the best of its taste and intensifies the whole experience. Helped by high quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Puglia, Red Chianti wine from Tuscany and freshly harvested vegetables, live opera turns eating Italian food into an unforgettable memory.
The passionate team of Opera in the Kitchen is formed by the Chef, the singer, the harpist and Lucrezia, who usually welcome guests at their Villa immersed in the countryside of Chianti Fiorentino region.
They will guide you in a walk through the Villa, explaining the origins and cultivation of the ingredients you will pick and use in the cookery class: some fresh fruits, vegetables and aromatic herbs.
During the cooking class you will learn to cook a typical Tuscan meal composed of five courses: an antipasto, a homemade pasta dish, a meat course, a side dish and a dessert. The menu changes depending on what fruit and vegetables are in season at the farmhouse, guaranteeing the freshness and authenticity of the dishes.
The cooking class is followed by a lovely dinner in the garden, where you will enjoy the colors of sunset savouring the dishes you have created yourselves.
The experience continues with a concert of the most beautiful Arias of Italian Opera performed by professional musicians. You will listen to the best arias from La Traviata, Madame Butterfly, Le Nozze di Figaro and La Bohème.
At the end of the evening each guest will receive a present: a beautiful souvenir of the day to take home with you.
The experience lasts 5 hours and we guarantee you will never forget the wonderful atmosphere and flavours of Opera in the Kitchen. We consider it transformative because it allows us to learn that Italian cooking is not so hard to learn and achieve (unlike some may think), and also because it will probably change your approach to eating for good.
The experience of Opera in the Kitchen is now available online as well, due to the pandemic. Emotions are guaranteed to be the same, waiting to live them in person again one day!
